Meet Dr. Thompson
Hi! My name is Dr. Ashley Thompson and I was born and raised in Wichita, KS. I’ve been helping people achieve better health and wellness through chiropractic since I graduated from Cleveland Chiropractic College in 2006.
I first encountered chiropractic care when I was 14. I had been extremely active in sports and began having lower back pain that was preventing me from playing basketball. After several visits to a good chiropractor, my pain got better and I was back on the courts. A few years later, however, I began having severe headaches. I literally had a headache from the time I got up in the morning, to the time I went to bed. For three months I followed the mainstream medical approach; I was given a gamut of tests (to no avail) and put on pain pills. Although the medication helped some, it wasn’t until I went back to my chiropractor that I began feeling some real relief. Within several weeks of receiving regular adjustments, I went from having a headache every day to having one just occasionally. It was at that time that I decided I wanted to be a chiropractor.
As I went through school, I realized how important a natural, holistic approach to health and medicine was and that I could help others with this information. I love treating patients of all ages with various health goals but have a special passion for pregnancy and children. Being a mother myself, there is nothing better than meeting a new baby after caring for mom during her pregnancy.
I am certified through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association in the Webster Technique, a specific technique used for pregnant women. I have also received my pediatric certification (CACCP) through the ICPA which required 200 additional hours of training, participation in two research projects, and passing a rigorous written exam. The curriculum provides the doctor with techniques and protocols of care for children and pregnant women. Additional hours are required bi-annually to maintain that certification. I am currently the only practicing chiropractor in the Wichita area with this certification.
My husband Brandon and I have two children: Joscelyn is 15 and Blake is 13. We love spending family time together traveling, watching WSU basketball, coaching our sons basketball team, and watching our daughter horse show.
I can be found at New Beginnings Chiropractic in Northwest Wichita. To schedule an appointment please call (316) 531-9110.
